Congratulations, everyone, on an absolutely splendid 2013 OBT
Nutcracker season! We finished this run with a record low number of
illnesses, injuries, or unforeseen problems, but that's less important than the
beautiful, spirited performances you delivered on stage.
This season posed challenges that I knew would require extra dedication and commitment from everyone involved, and I couldn't be more gratified by how far above and beyond the call of duty so many people went. From my wonderful students to their sacrificing families to our new school and company directors, and perhaps most of all, our amazing Children's Coordinator, Shari!, support and cooperation have been constant and plentiful. And that's the reason why we not only "made it" through this performance run, but triumphed.
Many dancers had to do every performance, frequently multiple roles per show, and sometimes danced more than one place in a single dance. I know how hard that was. Your enthusiasm and positive spirits were so much appreciated.
And the performances were excellent! (Even though I gave notes....) I was truly pleased and proud of every one, and every one of YOU. I hope you are all feeling the same way! You should be very proud of your hard work and dedication. Being in The Nutcracker at this level of professionalism as a child is an experience that changed MY life, and I hope you also take away lessons, memories, and impressions that will be with you forever.
THANK YOU!
Have a happy, healthy, and restful break, and I wish everyone the happiest of New Years!
