WEEKLY BULLETIN - 10.27.14

A HUGE THANK YOU to all the parents who helped with costume fittings on Sunday!  Considering the number of costumes and dancers we churned through, it was a very successful day!!  We could not have done it without your hard work and patience!!

The schedule for Saturday, November 1st is posted under "Quick References"

I understand the School of OBT is setting up a discount day at one of the local dance attire stores.  Many of you will need to buy tights, shoes, or other items for the Nutcracker and this would be a good time to do that.  I will post the day and time once I get more information.

COSTUME FITTING SCHEDULE:

SUNDAY, October 26, 2014

Drop off - Pick up

10:30 – 12:00            Angels

12:00 – 1:30              Battle Scene:  Soldiers, Sabers, Sentry, Trumpeter, and Bunny

2:00 – 4:00                Party Scene:  Marie, Nephew, Fritz, Grandchildren, Party Kids, Maids

                       

4:00 – 4:45                Polichinelles                       

4:45 – 5:45                Candy Canes

• Please arrive at the studio no more than 15 min. prior to the call time for your role.  
• Under-dress in your SOBT class attire. 
• Battle scene girls come with your hair in a high bun.  See the picture posted under Quick References.
• ONLY water will be allowed in the studio on Sunday - NO soda, fruit shakes, hot cocoa, etc!!
• Bring quiet entertainment, homework,....

Weekly Business - 10.20.14

The schedule for Saturday, October 25, 2014 has been posted.

Last Saturday, I had to go back to the studio after strike for OBT25.  WHAT A MESS!!  There is NO excuse for leaving clothes, food, and other items strewn across the floor!  If this continues we will enforce strict rules about what may and may not be brought into the lobby during rehearsals.

Sunday, October 26 - Costume Fittings

Thank you to everyone who signed up to help this Sunday.  I sent an email to those I am asking to help.  Please respond as soon as possible, so I know all the time slots are filled.  If you did not receive an email, it is either because I had too many offers for that time, or your availability did not match your child's call time.

This Sunday, October 26, we will have our costume fittings for ALL children's roles, except Chinese Tea.

Act I Children’s Roles Include:

 Party Scene: Marie, Fritz, Party Girls (includes Grandchildren), Party Boys, Maids, Nephew/Prince

Battle Scene: Marie, Prince, Soldiers (includes Sabres), Sentry, Trumpeter, Bunny

Act II Children’s Roles Include:

Angels, Marie, Prince, Candy Canes, Polichinelles, Chinese Tea

UPDATED Weekly Bulletin - 10.17.14

Tomorrow, October 18th - Prince and Marie Rehearsal will be for Princes ONLY.  

Friday, October 24th - Prince and Marie Rehearsal will be for Maries ONLY.  

A NOTE ON WEEKDAY REHEARSALS:  For the next three weeks (through November 10), the company is on layoff.  We will take advantage of the studio space and hold rehearsals for various roles on Tuesdays from 4 pm-5 pm and on Fridays from 3:30 pm-4:30 pm.  I will post the week schedule as soon as it is available.

A reminder:  Fittings will take place on Sunday, Oct 26.  I will post the schedule this week.  
Thank you to all who signed up to help with fittings.  Once I get the schedule together, I will contact you through email to confirm availability.  You will only be asked to help when your child is called for a fitting.

BOY POLICHINELLES - a note regarding tights: 
 §  White, footed, non-seamed tights (any brand).  Be sure you purchase a matte finish, not shiny or shimmery.  They should be opaque.  (These can be similar to the girl's pink tights worn in class, be sure they are white.)

UPDATED Rehearsal Schedule

The Rehearsal Schedule for this Saturday has been updated.

Candy Canes:  4:15 - 5:15

Polichinelles:  5:15 - 6:30

Rehearsals for Candy Canes and Polichinelles will be 15 minutes earlier than previously scheduled.

Weekly Business 10.7.14

The rehearsal schedule for Saturday, October 11 has been posted under Quick References.

Please note:  This week Angels will be rehearsing later in the day.
                        Also, with the Fall Rep - OBT25 opening Saturday evening, we ask that Polichinelles be                                                  picked up PROMPTLY at 6:45!

Thank you to all who came to the parent meetings.  If you were not able to make it, here are a few highlights:

We went through the paperwork that has been handed out, as well as paperwork yet to come:
*Dancers are expected to be at ALL rehearsals.
*Thanksgiving weekend rehearsal will be on Sunday instead of Saturday.  Enjoy a three day weekend!
*Casting and performance schedules will be released the week after Thanksgiving.
*If a rehearsal conflicts with an SOBT class, rehearsal takes priority.  We will contact the teachers and let them know.

We talked about the performance dates and times:
*A few studio rehearsals and technical rehearsals will require early release from school.  If needed, I can provide a letter for the school.
*All dancers are called to the theater through the final dress rehearsal.
*If your child is not in a performance, they do not need to come to the theater.  However, they must be available to fill in if their double is sick or injured.
*Chaperone forms for the performance will be handed out with the casting.  Please fill in all available dates.  You will only be asked to chaperone if your child is performing.

Wardrobe issues:
*Shoes must be canvas.
*No earrings should be worn onstage unless it is part of the costume.  Contact me if you have a special circumstance.
*Pictures for hair will be posted to the blog.  Tip for Angels:  begin the braids above the ears. (You'll understand once you see the picture.)

Misc:
*We discussed Nutcracker T-shirts.  If you would like to help make this happen, please contact me.
*I will add an RSS link to the blog for those savvy enough to know what it is, unlike ME!
*If you are interested in "group" emails or texts with other parents, let me know.
