Ah, Tchaikovsky Op. 71 in September!! Thank you all for being here on time and ready for rehearsal. We have a limited number of rehearsal days, so we need to take advantage of every moment.
I have several notes, so please read to the bottom and mark your calendars as necessary:
1) Parent meetings will be held this Saturday, September 28th. They are not mandatory. If you have questions please feel free to come into the conference room from 1:30 - 2:15 or 3:30 - 4:15.
2) I made a mistake about the dates for Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is on November 28th this year, so rehearsal on Saturday, November 30th is canceled. Instead we will have rehearsal on Sunday, December 1st.
3) Because we are rehearsing side by side with Midsummer, we will need to add several week day rehearsals for The Nutcracker while the company is on layoff. Rehearsals will be from 4:00 - 5:30 every Tuesday and Thursday from October 22 - November 7th. NOT EVERYONE will be called to every rehearsal. I will post a schedule as soon as it is determined. (Angels will NOT be called.)
3) We are TENTATIVELY scheduling NUTCRACKER fittings for the afternoon of Sunday, October 6th. This is still a tentative date dependent on whether or not costumes can be transported to the studio by that time.
4) Lastly, although the school is making a slow switch to canvas shoes, performance shoes must be leather. As in the past, I will have a black shoe exchange for all soldiers. We can also do an exchange for pink shoes if requested. If you need a pair of leather shoes for the performance, check with Eileen Ehlert in the shoe room. If she has your size, you can purchase them for a discount.

NUTCRACKER AUDITIONS THIS SATURDAY
Auditions will be held Saturday,
September 7, 2013 from 2:00 – 5:30 pm.
The Nutcracker
is a professional production by the Oregon Ballet Theatre. By coming to auditions, you are committing to
the entire rehearsal and performance period of the Nutcracker. Once cast, you will be expected to attend ALL
rehearsals, fittings, and performances for your role. Therefore, it is imperative that you check
and double check your calendar prior to attending auditions.
Rehearsals will
begin Saturday, September 14, 2013 and continue every Saturday through
November. (With the exception of
Saturday, November 23rd, instead we will rehearse Sunday, November
24th.) Weekday afternoon
rehearsals may begin in November. After
the Thanksgiving Day Weekend you should be available to rehearse every day until we open
on December 14th.
Performances for the Nutcracker run December 14 – 24, 2013.
School, job,
vacation, family, or other (vocal, acting, dance) performance commitments are
not excuses for missing rehearsals or performances. If you anticipate an absence for a very
special circumstance you must submit a request well in advance.
I look forward to working with you on this
exciting production.
