Audition Call

School of Oregon Ballet Theatre - Level 1A through Level 5 Students

Registration (Levels 1 - 5, Boys & Girls)                         11:30 PM – 12:00 PM

Measurements/Processing (Level 1 - 5, Boys & Girls)  12:00 PM –   1:00 PM

Audition (Level 1 – 5, Boys & Girls)                                  1:00 PM –   3:00 PM

Level 1 Release                                                          2:00 PM (approximately)

Children’s roles to be cast include:

Marie, Fritz, Party Girls, Party Boys, Maids, Nephew/Prince,

Soldiers, Sentry, Trumpeter, Bunny, Angels, Chinese, Candy Canes, Polichinelles

Students:

• Please wear appropriate SOBT class level attire/color for the audition.  No skirts, warm-up clothes, or legwarmers during the actual audition. 
• Girls, please arrive with your hair up, in a neat bun, with no bangs.  No bun scrunchies, barrettes, ribbons, or jewelry.
• Please eat lunch before arriving at OBT.  Only water bottles will be allowed in the warm-up waiting area (Studio 2).
• Feel free to bring books, homework, playing cards, or other quiet activities to keep yourselves occupied while waiting. 

Parents:

• All students must have a Production Release and Commitment form signed and dated by both the parent/guardian and the student before the student will be allowed to audition.  Forms can be found in your SOBT registration packets. No other forms are necessary for the audition. 
• This is a closed audition.  We would prefer the student be dropped off at the front door as per normal SOBT procedure.  Parents do not need to come in and register their child.
• Release will be from the back door.  Please park and walk to the back door to pick-up your child. Give your name and your child’s name to staff; your child will be released to you at that time.

All casting decisions are at the sole discretion of Oregon Ballet Theatre.

Audition attendance does not guarantee a role. Rehearsal participation does not guarantee performance.

Children's Coordinator

I would like to inform the young dancers and parents that I will not be returning as Children's Coordinator this season.  I wish to take this opportunity to thank all of you for a wonderful four years of dance!  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the ballet and I hope to be around from time to time to visit, say HELLO and, of course, watch a performance or two!  
  
A new coordinator will be announced soon.  Please be patient as the transition is made.  In the meantime, I will continue to update the blog as information becomes available.

WELCOME TO NUTCRACKER 2015!

AUDITIONS FOR OBT'S 2015 NUTCRACKER WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE AFTERNOON ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20TH AT THE OBT STUDIOS.

AUDITIONS ARE OPEN TO ALL SOBT STUDENTS IN LEVELS 1 THROUGH 5.

PLEASE CHECK BACK ON SEPTEMBER 1ST FOR MORE INFORMATION.

A Message from Gavin:

To all my Nutcracker children:

We did it!  As with any worthwhile endeavor, the satisfaction and pride of our accomplishments are well worth the intense effort, dedication, focus, and sacrifice we all put in over the past three and a half months.  I am so proud of you all, each and every single one of you, for being as committed to making OBT's 2014 Nutcracker superb as I, Shari, and Olivia were.  You have all now experienced a taste of the life of a professional dancer, and I believe, because I saw it happen on stage night after night, that you have all grown as a result.

I know that rehearsals were sometimes tough and intense.  Everyone had to make sacrifices (your families also deserve special thanks!), but I hope the pride and joy of being a part of a professional ballet company's major production far outweighed the challenges.  

Please enjoy a much needed, and well-deserved, rest over the next several days, and savor the satisfaction of jobs so very well done.  Your performances this Nutcracker season were excellent, and I was genuinely pleased and proud to see you all shine.  Maintaining a high standard of performance over the course of a long run isn't easy, and I can honestly say that the final shows you delivered were the best--- proving your powers of concentration and professionalism.

Congratulations, and thank you!  You brought Balanchine's choreography to life, following the footsteps of generations of young dancers before you.

I wish you all a wonderful holiday break, and a 2015 of happiness, good health, and dance!

Notes and Schedule for Saturday, December 27

This is it!!  Let's make it an extra special day as you perform your last party scene, your last battle scene, the last Angel, and the last Polichinelle, Candy Cane, and Chinese!!

Note:  Dancers may only put on foundation and mascara.  Polichinelles and Candy Canes will get a little something special when they come down to makeup tomorrow evening - you may not add anything on your own.
