UPDATED Carmen Schedule - ADDITIONS

I want to get this out as soon as possible.  I am working on a detailed schedule with alternates that I will post as soon as it is confirmed.

CARMEN Warehouse clothing for Friday, Sept. 30

CARMEN dancers, please bring ballet slippers, tennis shoes, and warm clothes that can get dirty with you to the warehouse.  I am not sure what to expect, so be ready with dance attire and warm clothes that you can move in.

NUTCRACKER Rehearsal Schedule for Saturday, October 1st

Saturday, October 1st:
          2:00-3:00              Angels
          3:00-4:00              Battle Scene (no Sentry, Trumpeter, Bunny, Prince, or Marie)
          4:15-6:00              Party Scene (with Grandchildren, but no Maids)
          6:00-6:45              Polichinelles
          6:45-7:30              Candy Canes
Party Scene: Marie, Fritz, Party Girls (include Grandchildren), Party Boys, Maids, Nephew/Prince

CARMEN Costume and Hair Information

A message from Belinda:

"There is a possibility that the kids will be wearing flesh colored shoes.... I need all kids to stop by to try on shoes beginning Monday. 15 minutes before their class would be fine.

For now the only direction I have is for the girls to wear a nude body liner and the boys to be sure to have a dance belt to wear.

As usual, come to the theatre with base make-up and Mascara already applied. I’m sure that there will be lipstick, blush, and eye shadow direction to come."

I spoke with Belinda this morning. Hair is to be down and natural, no curls.

Shari's Hours Updated-again

As Carmen draws near, my schedule will be changing and I think it will be better to post my hours by the week. 
This week I will not be in on Friday, Sept. 23rd as scheduled.  Saturday remains the same-11:30-6:30.
Next week my schedule is:  Tuesday, Sept. 27th from 3:30-5:30, Wed., Sept. 28th from 4:00-6:00, and Saturday, Oct. 1 from 1:30-7:30.

NO Carmen rehearsal Friday, Sept. 23!

As the schedule states it is tentative and subject to change.  So, the first change is to cancel this Friday's rehearsal.  Next week we may need to add a rehearsal, so please stay tuned!  There is, also, a chance that we will be meeting at the warehouse one day to practice with the set.

At this point Tuesday will continue as scheduled.  I will post as the information comes in...

Rehearsals are going quite well.  It has been a pleasure meeting everyone.  If you would like to speak to me in person, I will be at the studio every Tuesday and Friday from 3:30-5:30 through September and Saturdays from 11:30-6:30 through November.  You can also make an appointment at other times, if needed.

Please remember to bring your Nutcracker forms in by Saturday, September 24th.

ANGEL REHEARSAL CANCELED! This Saturday ONLY

The angel rehearsal on Saturday, September 17th, has been canceled.  Angels WILL rehearse on Saturday, September 24th from 12pm - 1pm.

ALL other roles will rehearse as scheduled on Saturday, September 17th.

Rehearsal Schedule for The Nutcracker - Saturday, September 17 and 24

Below is the schedule for our first two Saturday rehearsals.  Rehearsals will continue most Saturdays until we move into the theater.  If needed, additional rehearsals may be scheduled throughout the week. Please plan for the possibility of a rehearsal the Sunday after Thanksgiving.



The following weeks will be scheduled based upon what is accomplished in the first two weeks.  I will post schedules as I receive them.

Updated Rehearsal Cast List for THE NUTCRACKER 2011

It was wonderful to see so many faces at the auditions on Sunday.  Congratulations to those whose names are listed below.  Unfortunately, we were not able to cast everyone - thank you for auditioning.  We hope that  you will come see The Nutcracker performance, and audition again next year.

Our first rehearsal will be on Saturday, September 17th.  The schedule is posted on the blog.  I will be in the studio on Thursday and Friday handing out Nutcracker Packets. If you have any questions you may email me at:  Shari.Goss@obt.org

NUTCRACKER Audition Questions - Answered

I have received many questions regarding tomorrow's Nutcracker audition.  I, too, am learning the process, but I will attempt to answer to the best of my ability!  Answers can also be found on the Audition Notice posted to the blog.

-If you have submitted all SOBT Forms, then you have already completed the "Production Release and Commitment" the only form needed for the Nutcracker auditions.

- Registration is held from 9am - 10am - you may arrive anytime between 9am and 10am.

-Students should wear their class level attire/color. 

-Auditions will end at 1:00 - Please pick up your child/youth at the rear door - the same as you would for an SOBT class.

-Food will not be provided.  If you would like to send a snack with your child, he/she will be given a chance to eat.  Remember to bring a water bottle!

-All scholarship students are required to audition.  All other students in Levels 1-5 may choose to audition.

-We will post a "to learn" casting next week. 

All children cast in the Nutcracker should expect and plan for weekly Saturday rehearsals beginning next Saturday, Sept. 17th.

Saturday rehearsals can range from one hour per week (e.g. Angels) to three hours per week (e.g. Party Scene).  Should a child be cast to learn multiple roles (usually applies to the older students), they would obviously be there longer.  The rehearsal schedule can vary week to week and is set by the Artistic staff. I will post that information as soon as it becomes available. 

Most of the children's roles will be double cast.  A schedule of performances for your child will be released once performance casting has been finalized in November.

Please note:  Audition start and end times are approximations only. 
We’ll do our best to keep on schedule!!
Students:
  • Please wear appropriate class level attire/color for the audition.  No skirts, warm-up clothes, or legwarmers during the actual audition. 
  • Girls, please arrive with your hair up in a neat bun with no bangs.  No bun scrunchies, barrettes, ribbons or jewelry.
  • Please eat breakfast before arriving at OBT.  Only water bottles will be allowed in the warm-up waiting area (Studio 2).
  • Feel free to bring books, homework, playing cards, or other quiet activities to keep yourselves occupied while waiting. 
Parents:
  • All students must have a Production Release and Commitment Form signed and dated by both the parent/guardian and the student before the student will be allowed to audition.  These forms will be included in the SOBT 2011/2012 Annual Session registration packets and need to be returned by the date specified.  Students may not audition without a signed form in our possession.  There will be no exceptions!   No other forms are necessary for the audition. 
  • Parking is available in both studio lots on a first-come, first-served basis. 
  • This is a closed audition.  We would prefer the student be dropped off at the front door as per normal SOBT procedure.  Parents do not need to come in and register their child.
  • All students will be ready for release at 1:00 PM from the back door.  No one will be released early.  Please be patient if we are running behind…this is a long, time-consuming process.
  • Please park and walk to the back door to pick-up your child.  You will give your name and your child’s name to staff.  Your child will be released to you at that time.

All casting decisions are at the sole discretion of Oregon Ballet Theatre.
